Oat porridge sunflower seeds and dried cherries

Porridge is a classic, nutritious breakfast dish. Other ingredients can be added to ring the changes. Try experimenting with adding classic flavour combinations like apple and cinnamon or rhubarb and ginger to your porridge. Sprinkling porridge with toasted nuts and seeds gives it a lovely crunchy texture.

Ingredients

100g rolled oats

250ml Provitamil Oat Drink

250ml water

50g dried cherries (soaked for 2hours if possible)

1 tbsp sunflower seeds

vanilla sugar for dusting

Method

Place the oats in a saucepan with the Provitamil Oat Drink and water gradually bring to the boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and stir the porridge until it reaches a creamy consistency.

Drain the cherries and stir them into the porridge. Meanwhile place the sunflower seeds in a frying pan and toast until they are just turning golden brown.

Remove the porridge from the heat and sprinkle with a few toasted sunflower seeds and a dusting of vanilla sugar.
