Many vegetarians and vegans will be familiar with using avocado in chocolate puddings and mousses to give a smooth, creamy texture. Avocado works well in this chocolate Oat Drink smoothie recipe too. This is a nutritious smoothie which tastes great and makes a very good snack or accompaniment to a light meal.
1 large banana
1 ripe avocado, skin and stone removed
1 tbsp good quality cocoa powder
750 ml Chocoloat
2 tsp raw cacao nibs (optional)
Honey to sweeten ( optional)
Peal and chop the banana into chunks and freeze for one hour. Place the frozen banana, avocado, cocoa powder and 500 ml of Chocoloat in a blender and process until it is smooth. Add more Chocoloat until you get the consistency you like. Stir in the cocoa nibs, if using, to give your smoothie some crunch. Taste the smoothie and add honey to sweeten if you need it.
